Sub: Condemning Cognizant President Mr. Raj Mehta for terming employees as DeadWood and illegal layoffs in the company in the past 6 months.

We are NDLF IT Employees Wing which is a genuine trade union registered under Trade Union Act 1926, representing IT employees of both national and global organizations.

We release this statement to condemn Mr. Raj Mehta, President of Cognizant Technology for terming employees as Deadwood.

NDLF IT Employees Wing’s demands Mr. Raj Mehta to apologize and retract the above statement and reinstate illegally retrenched employees. Copies were sent to Labour Commissioner, Tamil Nadu Labour Secretary and the Chief Justics of Madras High Court.

Thus Mr. Raj Mehta has presided over the illegal retrenchment of 100s of Cognizant employees in the past 6 months.

We request Cognizant employees who were affected by illegal retrenchments to contact our union. You can file a petition under section 2A of Industrial Disputes Act 1947 for reinstatement with back wages. We can also file a petition under section 2K of ID Act to demand compensation for the illegal retrenchment by Cognizant management.

We request media friends to publish this press release and take our message to the 40 lakh IT employees all over India and more than 4 lakh employees in Tamil Nadu.
