Performance appraisal cycle for Q4 is already closed now and all people would have known the rating at this point.
I write this article as a follow up to Wipro’s Layoff Plan : Senior Employee Prepares to Fight. What is happening after the appraisal closure for people who got lower ratings? How we can fight against it?
Most of the people who got lower ratings might have got the call from HR already. The options given by HR for the people are :
- Submit the resignation in 1 day. We will pay 2 month salary. You will get relieving letter with good comments on work done with Wipro and conduct. There is no need to come to office and you can search for your next job in the 2 months time
- If person refuses to submit the resignation, HR warns them, “if you are not submitting the resignation, we will build termination case. In this case, you will not get proper relieving letter and 2 month salary. You will not get any new job in your career if we terminated.”
- If a person did not agree to submit the resignation even after this threat, in certain period of time, resignation is initiated (automated) in the system in the name of employee. Unfortunately automation which is projected by Wipro in large scale is used to generate auto generated resignations against employees. [forgery?]
IT companies do not want to show any retrenchment as this gives negative comments on the company [and lead to legal challenge in courts]. That’s the reason, they are asking employees to submit the resignation. If employees resign on their own, it is general attrition and there is no need for any IT companies to answer anyone for these cases.
That’s the main reason for IT companies making employee to resign and following all un-ethical, dishonest, underhand routes to force employee to resign
I know many people deny and complain that IT companies will not do such things. We formed a WhatsApp group of all employees who are made part of Wipro non-performers and I am writing these details only based on experience from multiple people. If anyone still denies, please refer to the 130+ comments received as part of my previous write up.

I am also WIPRO Employee since past 16 years and I fully agree with the above article. I have lots of Proofs to support the issue mentioned in above article. WIPRO is asking people working in Organization for 10-15 years to leave by giving 2 months notice. They are not offering any VRS or for that matter any benefits. It is high time all the IT employees get organized and fight this.
I have been working in Wipro for the past 14 years, currently Team Lead in a big account, during 3rd week of April my supervisor called me and asked to meet the HR, I was told that i am in the B3 band for 6 years and I have to quit immediately, I was told to resign on the same day. It was a big shock to me. Next week HR threatened me that If i dont resign they will go ahead with the next levels for closure and that will not be good. Yesterday my L2 appraisal was closed and I was given UC – unsatisfactory rating and now there is no chance that I will remain in the organization.
Guys pls fight back and take Wipro CEO to court. I was a victim last month. Band inertia started last year it self every month they are calling employees and asking to resign.
They are finding some reason for us to resign.
I have 16 years of experience in Wipro and I myself given least ratings to the team to meet management targets. I was forced to change the ratings from excellent contribution to un satisfactory. People who are on bench also given least ratings to throw them out of the organization. Persons who just crossed 5 years in a band are thrown out of the company irrespective of their performance, I myself is evident for that.
I am feeling very ashamed of serving this company for so many years and there is no value for the loyalty and sincerity, people are just treated as machines and playing with their lives.
There is no respect given to individual and just taking one directional decisions and commanding the employees to resign voluntarily to have smooth exit otherwise threatening them as the case will be treated under termination process by preparing appropriate case sheet.
As I have written in my previous post, if we allow band inertia, after B2 band only 350 of 1000 employees will survive after 7 years. Atleast people who joined earlier, survive in IT till our age of 45. If we continue to proceed like this, in next few years, retirement age in IT will become 35.
The main advantage of IT companies is the real number of people moving out is not known and IT people are not united. To counter this, I request the following things of all people who read this message.
People who are part of low performance rating, please provide the following details to NDLF mail ID (email@example.com)
a. Your name
b. Your employee number and name
c. Wipro mail id
d. What is the current status of your position in the company
We already have around 30 people who are part of this “WhatsUp” group who is under the so called ‘non performer’ category. We want to collect details of more people and please provide this details immediately to NDLF. The main advantage of doing this is, we will get a better idea about people affected by this and can go for next action.
I request all other people to forward this message to all people whom you know. We can achieve this only if this message is circulated to all employees. We (IT people) are the main reasons who are responsible for various sensational events in social media. We have forwarded many things in our life earlier and this time, I am requesting to forward this message for our own job safety. So please forward this message to all your friends and people whom you know in your projects rated as low performers.
If we make this group of so-called ‘non-performers’ large, it will be easy for us to fight and think abour next steps like filing grievance in labor office or taking this issue to honorable court to ask for stay on these actions.
